This is something that is mostly overlooked as a practice in other service providers. We at Leo Global however recognize the importance of mentally preparing a candidate with the right expectations so that the transition is as easy as possible.
We need the students to be ready to adapt to a new culture, education methodology, food, weather, friend circle etc. We help the students with the following:
- Easing with the Culture Shock: Most students during the initial days post landing are shocked by the differences in culture, weather, food, gender equality, education system etc. This often leads to withdrawal symptoms wherein they refuse to partake socially with others or leave the comfort and safety of their rooms. This leads to several problems as the days progress as the feeling of ‘not belonging’ may lead to other complexities. It’s essential that the students are aware of the difficulties and are able to reach competent authorities at the university (if required). With vast previous experiences to learn from, Leo Global provides the right direction and ways to be better prepared for it.
- Accommodation and Airport Pickup: Landing in a foreign country and immediately to know the next things to do is scary. We help students with the arrangement for Airport Pickup either through the University or Indian association over there. This is critical as often students are tense and tired due to long flights, immigration delays and general tension about going to a new place. We also help the students get an accommodation either at the university or outside with some other students who are already sharing a flat according to their preference.
- Things to Carry: Knowing the right things to carry is essential. Many students carry things which are irrelevant which increases the baggage load. There are certain things which are useful in India that would be completely useless there. The dress code at institutions is very informal so we need to prepare accordingly. Also, the winter clothing that we use in India may not be adequate over there. On the contrary, very few medicines are available over the counter, so we need to carry a few essentials tablets that we are used to at least for the initial days. Leo Global provides a full checklist of Things to Carry Country wise.
- Do’s and Dont’s: As discussed above the students are going to have a completely new experience. Every culture has its own unwritten code of conduct. For the student to become a part of the society, they have to understand and start following the social and cultural norms of the particular country. Leo Global will provide them with an exhaustive checklist for the same country wise.
